It is a working method.

It has now been proven. We know the few advantages it has: with a minimum of initiative and self-giving, mechanically following the manual, any teacher can administer it, even without the long apprenticeship of the Ecole Normale . But no ! it is also because we feel that so much remains to be done in so many areas that we always talk again with dynamism and boldness. In: The Educator CEL For teachers review in July 1953 I did not need clever test to know the value and the possible return of a shepherd. If he does his job with pleasure, if he cares deeply about his work, I can be sure that the animals are well taken.

The technique will come if it still lacks, and in the meantime, the permanent concern of the shepherd will mitigate his professional shortcomings. When I see the peasant lovingly inspect its field, leaning on his plants as the shepherd of his sheep, I do not have to conduct a lengthy investigation into his peasant virtues. Provided misery, failures or operation do not discourage the work that is his life, he will become quickly expert in an art where dead technology is not enough.

If I am told that there is a teaching method that gives children the love of the profession and the taste of a job that is expression of being; if we add that this method is the educator that same feeling of participation and fullness that illuminates the craft of peasant and humanizes the thankless task of the shepherd; if I see educators who practice this method back to life and enthusiasm, I do not have to inform me further: This method is good.
